Collective Urban Action, part of the1st Experiment of Environmental Immersion (EIA). São Paulo, 2003/2004.

400 small candles were lighted up and left in the streets at night, around the old center of São Paulo. Some people read this action as a poetic work, others linked it to religious African practices of offerings (candomblé), and finally some people understood the action as a tribute to the case of homeless people that were shot to death some weeks before the action, in that same region. None of these readings were planned. The aim was just to activate a piece of urban territory with a simple and temporary daily element.
