Dark Matter series
Oil paint – intervention on paper ; maps and pages from old magazines and newspapers.
A series of maps and found pages of old magazines are intervened with black oil paint, creating a new subjective cartography. Driven from the idea that oil can ‘acts as a global lubrificant’ for social relations as well as the idea of it being a ‘sentient being’ (idea driven from Reza Negarastani’s Ciclonopaedia book), these new maps show not a precise cartography of oil drilling and consumption, but instead, they act as visual statements where the ‘black matter’ that normally is invisible in our daily life, gains a striking visual presence, as a ‘thing’ that is as big as countries and present everywhere.
